Scooter Service and Warranty

We service most makes and models of Chinese scooters and ATV’s. We perform minor maintenance to major repairs. Our service is limited to scooters and ATV's purchased here in our store. We have been asked if we will perform repairs on scooters we did not sell. The answer is, NO due to parts availability and technical information we are only able to service scooters or ATV's purchased in the store. 

We have been asked if we will assemble and prep a scooter that was purchased online. The answer is, no, we will not, but we will probably ask why would you want to go that route. Yes, the scooter may be cheaper, but when you add the shipping, and charges for assembly and prep, it will likely be more expensive than buying one here and you essentially have no warranty. We provide a limited warranty on what we sell. Likewise, your warranty will be provided by whoever sold the scooter to you. Problem is they are likely 100’s if not 1000’s of miles away.

Service 01

Spring prep service is $54.95. This includes an oil change with synthetic oil, charging the battery, adjusting tire pressure, inspection and road test. This is only offered to scooters and ATV's purchased in store. 

It’s not uncommon to have a plugged carburetor from sitting with gas in it. We highly recommend draining the fuel from the carburetor in the fall or using an additive such as Sta-bil or Sea Foam in the fuel. The above spring prep package with a carburetor removal and cleaning is $159.95. In some cases if the carburetor is plugged badly, it is more cost effective to replace that to repair. We have them in stock.

Our shop labor rate is $69.97 below 50cc and $79.97 above 50cc.

Scooter Quality

It’s no secret that some of the Chinese scooters have a bad reputation. Fact is, while some of them are low quality, the majority are just as good as the Japanese or Taiwan makes. Where the problem lies is in the internet sales. You cannot buy a Japanese scooter such as a Honda or Yamaha online. Same goes for most Taiwan makes. You have to buy these through a dealer with an actual building and service area. This insures the scooter is properly uncrated, assembly completed, fluids checked, tire pressures checked, bolts checked for torque, battery properly charged, etc. Many of the Chinese scooters can be bought online very cheap and delivered to your home. Some are almost fully assembled and some are almost like scooter kits. Either way, some amount of assembly is required and a full inspection performed with any needed adjustments. Most people do not know this and are not able to do this either because they lack the experience or the tools. So these scooters are uncrated and ridden before they are truly road worthy. This creates a bad riding experience or a continued system failures. If you properly prep the Chinese scooter or buy one from a dealer that properly preps it, your new scooter will last for many years and many thousands of miles. Most dealers that sell Chinese scooters also buy from an importer that buys the better quality scooters and sells through a growing network of dealers. We are currently a dealer for both Propel and Icebear. You cannot call either company and buy direct. They will refer you to a dealer just like the Japanese brands. This effort says that these companies are here to stay and they are working hard to clean up the reputation that has come from companies that are here today and gone tomorrow. Service 04

Icebear Warranty Agreement

Warranty period

The warranty starts on the date that the unit is sold to your customer.  After selling the unit the dealer must register online within 10 business days of the sale date to start the warranty coverage and provide a copy of the bill of sale. Failure to do so will void any warranty request. Please see our website for instructions on how to register.

On-road products:
a) Parts are covered under this warranty to be free from manufacturer defects for 6 months or 750 miles whichever comes first & engine is covered to be free from manufacturer defect for 1 year or 1500 miles, whichever comes first.

Off-Road products:
a) Parts are covered under this warranty to be free from manufacturer defects for 60 days on & engine is covered to be free from manufacturer defect for 6 months.

Warranty Coverage


I. Parts

Engines: All internal lubricated parts, i.e. pistons, piston rings, piston pins, connecting rods, rod bearings, camshaft, camshaft bearings, timing chain, crankshaft, crankshaft main bearings, oil pump, water pump, valves, valve springs, valve guides, valve seats, valve lifters and valve push rods are covered. The engine head and cylinder is covered only if damage is caused solely by the mechanical failure of one or more internal lubricated components listed above. Broken gears due to damage from outside impact are not covered under the warranty.

Engine case: The Engine case is covered only if the damage is caused solely by the mechanical failure of one or more of the internal lubricated components listed above.

Drive system: All internal lubricated parts contained within the drive axle housing case, i.e. differential, differential gears, drive shaft, drive axles, CV joints, axle bearings, reverse gears and output shafts are covered. The drive axle housing as well as the reverse gearbox housing is covered only if damage is caused solely by the mechanical failure of one or more or the internal lubricated components contained in the drive axle housing. Any bent, broken or damaged parts in the drive system caused by outside impact, is not covered under this warranty.

Fuel system: For carbureted vehicles, carburetor, vacuum fuel pump, intake manifold, fuel tank and fuel petcock are covered under this warranty. For fuel injected vehicles, fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator are covered under this warranty.

Electrical system: Stator, stator pickup, magneto, voltage regulator/rectifier, CDI, starter relay/starter solenoid, starter motor, coil, distributor assembly and injector relay are covered under thi mnji nji nji nin

Cooling system: Radiator, radiator cap, thermostat, thermostat housing, temperature indicator switch, cooling fan motors, water pump and water pump housing are covered under this warranty.

Brake system: Calipers, drum housings, drum brake linkage, reservoirs, rotors, and lines are covered under this warranty.

Chassis: Frame, swing arms, A-arms, steering controls are covered under this warranty. Any bent, broken, damaged parts due to outside impact are not covered under this warranty.

Transmission: All internal lubricated parts contained within the transmission case, i.e. flywheel, hydraulic shift linkage, kick start spindle, kick start secondary gear and transmission gears, are covered under this warranty. The transmission case itself is covered only if the damage is solely caused by the mechanical failure of one or more of the internal lubricated components contained within the transmission case

II. Limitations

Parts not covered under this warranty:
Tires, rims, body panels, fuses, forks, shocks, gaskets, light bulbs, seats, CV Boots, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, filters, clutch wear parts, cables, drive belt, chain, spark plug, brake linings and/or pads, batteries, sprockets, external springs, clips, nuts, bolts and fasteners, any part(s) made from rubber. Chrome parts are covered for 10 days.

Warranty is voided if damage is caused under the following circumstances:

  • Jumping
  •  Stunt ridding
  • Modification of any kind
  • Racing
  • Riding at constant wide open throttle
  • Accident
  • Product is used in a manner that it is not designed for
  • Inexperienced rider abuse
  •  Improper adjustment/operation of the clutch, i.e. dragging, causing premature burning of the friction plates
  • Improper adjustment/operation of brakes
  • Improper gear engagement, i.e. changing gears without stopping completely
  •  Improper maintenance including but not limited to lack of routine maintenance, improper initial setup, use of aftermarket parts for repair, use of incorrect lubricants.

This warranty does not cover freight to send out replacement or repaired parts, labor incurred upon Dealers, or any incidental or consequential loss and damages, other than the sums specified in this agreement, arising from injury, loss of time, rental vehicles, towing cost, profits, or income as a result of failure of any component of any parts.

Procedure to File a Warranty Claim

I.Parts Warranty

1. All defective parts must be returned if asked for at the cost of the Dealer.

2. Icebear reserves the right to decline a warranty claim if defective parts are not returned.

II. Return Engine/Bike/ Rear Differntial for Repair

1. Notify your sales rep or the warranty department

2. The warranty department will instruct you as what to do next.

3. Dealer is responsible for freight to return the product. If the product is determined to be defective, Icebear is responsible for parts, labor and freight to send out replacement or repaired product. If the product is determined to be damaged, due to causes other than manufacturer defects, the Dealer is responsible for parts, labor and freight to send back replacement or repaired product.

4. Dealer will be responsible for any shipping damages incurred during transit.

Shipping Policy

1. All warranty orders are shipped on a prepaid basis.

2. Warranty orders that have been approved and processed will be held for 5 business days after notifying the Dealers in writing. Parts will be released into general inventory if Icebear does not get response from Dealer after 5 business days.

3. Icebear can only take warranty claims from the purchasing Dealer and cannot take warranty claims from a third party i.e. the retail customers.

4. Icebear is not responsible for shipping delays as it is at will of the shipping company or unpredictable circumstances.

5. Icebear is not responsible for shipping damages that occurs during transit.

6. Dealer is responsible for any extra shipping cost that occurs after the part has been shipped. This cost includes, but is not limited; to change of address cost, change of zoning cost, reweight cost.

7. Warranty orders can be canceled before they are shipped. Once a warranty order is shipped, all payment related to such order is non-refundable.

Additional Warranty Policy for Drop Shippers:

Drop-shipping Dealers will be required to submit the receipt for PDI and initial assembly from a professional mechanic shop with each warranty claim.

Units which are drop shipped directly to the end user in crate without PDI and assembly by a certified/professional mechanics,  will have a shorter warranty period as follow:

Trike products:

a) Parts covered under this circumstance to be free from manufacturer defects for 60 days on parts & engine is covered for 3 months or 500 miles, whichever comes first

Non-trike products:

a) Parts are covered under this warranty to be free from manufacturer defects for 30 days & engine is covered for 1 month.

Drop-shipping dealers have the option to pay a fee to Icebear to have PDI and assembly done before the unit is shipped out to the end user. Units in which Icebear performs PDI and assembly will be covered under regular warranty policy

An extension of this warranty for a full 2 years or 3000 miles, whichever comes first, is available on all on road products. It is not available for off road products.
